Fitch Ratings places R.I. bonds on negative watch list
NEW YORK – Fitch Ratings has placed the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations’ general-obligations bonds and related appropriation-backed bonds on Rating Watch Negative. The action, which applies to about $1.5 billion in outstanding bonds, comes as the state was preparing to refinance $51 million in outstanding debt, R.I. General Treasure Frank T. Caprio said in responding to the Fitch action.
